Alleghany County Nature Preserve Chosen For Filming New Supernatural Movie

COVINGTON, Va. – Parts of Alleghany County will once again be shown on the big screen.

A nature reserve in Covington, Beaverdam Falls will be the backdrop for the next film, “Talos: The Knights of Xibalba.

It is a supernatural movie featuring knights, zombies and other creatures.

Beaverdam Falls owner Beau Bryan said the arrangement was made thanks to one of his former visitors to the property.

“A former guest of mine who stayed at one of our Airbnbs approached me about a movie he was filming,” Bryan said. “He fell in love with the property and asked if we would be interested in hosting his team for the film and movie company, called Dark Ronin Movies.”

The property’s sump and sulfur waterfall, along with other locations, will be used as a backdrop in the film.

“The property lends itself to the natural setting and therefore the genre of the film, much of it was shot in caves around water and in nature,” Bryan said.

Once again, this film will put Alleghany County on the map.

This filming comes just a year after the Hulu show, “Dopesick” wrapped filming on the road in Clifton Forge.

Bryan said he hoped this film would bring potential business and new opportunities for Beaverdam Falls.

“It really is one of the premier destinations in this part of the county and having only been open to the public for four years now we are still very much under the radar so it is exciting to think we will have more capable people to come here,” Bryan said.

The film is slated to hit Netflix next year.
