While “Murder Mystery” still features Adam Sandler’s vigils of racism, body shaming, and misogyny, it doesn’t lean as heavily on its offensiveness, which automatically qualifies it for the top half of its Netflix catalog. so far. Nick (Sandler) and Audrey Spitz (Jennifer Aniston) are a married couple who, 15 years after their marriage, finally go on their honeymoon. Nick books a bus tour of Europe, but when Audrey befriends bored aristocrat Charles Cavendish (Luke Evans) during the flight, they become guests on his uncle’s yacht and suddenly find themselves embroiled – you guessed it – to a murder mystery. Charles’ billionaire uncle, Malcolm Quince (Terence Stamp, who brings a delightfully incongruous gravity to the role), dies just before signing a new will that would leave his entire fortune to his new wife, Suzi (Shioli Kutsuna), and suddenly everything everyone on board the yacht becomes a suspect.

The murder mysteries, especially those featuring dramatic will signatures, are a delightfully fun premise, and Sandler and Aniston are clearly having a good time traversing Europe as corpses continue to fall around them. They have an easy chemistry that works well for the playfully bickering Spitz; in fact, true friends have already packed the sequel to come. “Murder Mystery” isn’t the smartest comedy or mystery, but, ranked on the sliding scale of Netflix Sandler’s work, it’s a bit fun and easier to recommend than previous entries in this listing.

Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam Just Appeared In DC’s Latest Superhero Movie (Photo) Mon, 01 Aug 2022 02:54:28 +0000

One of the most vocal voices in the DC Extended Universe is none other than Dwayne Johnson. Ironically, the star hasn’t even had her own movie yet. His character, Black Adam, has his own movie due out later this year.

Before that, however, it will direct another output: DC Super Pet League. The animated adventure sees the voice of The Rock Krypto, Superman’s dog, as he is forced into action to save the world from a threat even the Justice League can’t beat.

Audiences around the world seem to be enjoying the experience, though fans were no doubt surprised when it came time for the film’s post-credits teaser. While Johnson may have led the fun animal adventure as Krypto, in the film’s final minutes, viewers got to see the actor’s favorite antihero on screen a little earlier.

Black Adam gets a cameo

DC Super Pet League is finally out in theaters around the world. The film stars Dwayne Johnson as Krypto, Superman’s canine sidekick, as he is forced into action to save his master’s life and potentially the world.

While audiences are thrilled with the film, it’s the post-credits scene that has fans talking. In fact, the film’s star has now made a instagram post drawing attention to the new animal of the doghouse: Anubis, Black Adam’s dog.

The scene in question sees Black Adam visiting John Krasinski’s Superman as he plays with Krypto. Although the face of the anti-hero is not visible, the back of it clearly resembles the appearance of the character in the next black adam live action movie.

DC Comics

In his post, the actor thanked the audience “for making Super Pets the #1 movie [in America]”, while drawing attention to Black Adam’s cameo alongside Superman at the dog park:

“THANK YOU for making SUPER PETS the #1 MOVIE…but did you stay until the END credits…You already know how I feel about SUPERMAN vs. BLACK ADAM…the Indestructible Force encounters the Immobile Object.”

As exciting as it may seem to see the Man of Steel next to Black Adam, fans probably weren’t expecting to meet Anubis, who Johnson said was “the baddest and baddest anti-hero dog that walks [on] the green earth of God:”

“With the DC SUPER PETS UNIVERSE, we had the opportunity to create this awesome animated universe in a fun and cool way… So three times Teremana later, I had an idea for the end credits.. .allow me to introduce you to the baddest , baddest , dog walking anti hero [on] The green earth of God…. ANUBIS… Complete with his new favorite toy – Bruce Batman Squeeze…”

Black Adam, Anubis
DC Comics

To top off the social media post, The Rock teased how “[they] have big construction projects [both] Black Adam DC Universe [and also] DC Super Pets Universe:”

“At Seven Bucks Productions we have big plans to develop the BLACK ADAM DC UNIVERSE and now the DC SUPER PETS UNIVERSE with our partners Warner Bros. and DC Comics – and SUPER PETS & BLACK ADAM is just the beginning.”

The Hierarchy Of The DC Pet Universe Is About To Change

While fans wanted to see Black Adam and Superman share the screen together, that’s probably not what many thought. It’s almost a shame that it had to happen in DC Super Pet League first.

If the animated movie gets a sequel, Adam’s dog, Anubis, will definitely play a major role. This would likely mean that Dwayne Johnson would end up voicing three different characters in the same film.

While The Rock certainly enjoys flaunting Black Adam, it’s great to see him explicitly play on the character’s association with Superman. It at least shows that the concept is in his mind and could very well make it a live-action adventure down the line.

However, one has to wonder why the general public seems to want to see him go up against Superman more than his nemesis Shazam. However, given recent interviews with the director of Zachary Levi’s upcoming film, Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavil sharing the screen seems closer to reality than Billy Batson taking on the big anti-hero villain anytime soon.

DC Super Pet League now playing in theaters worldwide, black adam hits theaters on October 21 later this year, and Shazam! Fury of the gods arrives on December 21.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese reunite for their seventh movie together as star and director with an adaptation of The Wager.

The cinematographic couple of Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are back together, as they will reunite for their seventh film: The bet. As one of Hollywood’s finest actors and directors, any new project involving one or the other becomes a bit of an event movie. The two men have become great collaborators over the years, such as in 2002 New York Gangs saw a young DiCaprio team up with the legendary director for the first time. Their partnership continued with the 2004 True Story the aviator and 2006 The deadboth of which made Leo the main character and established him as a Hollywood star.

The couple took a little break after The dead ultimately gave Scorsese the Best Picture Oscar. It was then in 2010 that DiCaprio starred in Scorsese’s mystery thriller shutter island. The famous two worked together again in 2013 for the wolf of Wall Street, which is often cited as their best collaboration. DiCaprio has not appeared in a Scorsese film since then, although the director has directed two other films. He’s set to play a supporting role in Scorsese’s next film in 2023. The second ship arrives on the Chilean coast six months later and in worse condition, carrying three sailors who claim the other men are mutineers. Ryan Gosling responds to Ken’s criticism of the Barbie movie Mon, 25 Jul 2022 10:51:00 +0000

Ryan Gosling hilariously responds to criticism of his casting Ken in Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie.

Ryan Gosling fires back at fans who criticize his version of Ken in the upcoming Barbie film. Based on the eponymous Mattel toy line, Barbie is directed by Greta Gerwig, with a screenplay written by her and Noah Baumbach. The film features Margot Robbie in the lead role with Gosling opposite her as Ken, Barbie’s toy counterpart. Support actors to Barbie include Emma Mackey, Will Ferrell, Michael Cera, Ritu Arya, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon and America Ferrera.

Despite the general enthusiasm surrounding the project, when promotional images for Barbie began posting online, some fans took issue with Gosling’s Ken. The image in question shows Gosling sporting a very different look from his other films, with bleached blonde hair and a denim jacket with cropped sleeves, standing in front of a bright pink house. Some have criticized Gosling’s casting due to his age, with the Blade Runner 2049 actor now 41 years old. Robbie, on the other hand, is 32, putting the age difference between the two Barbie stars at almost 10 years.

In an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Gosling fires back at those who criticized his version of Ken, jokingly suggesting that they probably never played with the Ken toy. The actor says Ken is “an accessoryto Barbie and that, until the movie was announced, fans who are critical of its casting probably never even thought of it. Check out Gosling’s amusing comment below:

I was surprised how, you know, some people kind of clutched their pearls about my Ken, like they’d already thought about Ken a second before that. They never played with Ken. Nobody plays with Ken, man. It’s an accessory and not even one of the coolest.

Ken Barbie Toy

Although it remains to be seen how Gosling’s depiction of the iconic Barbie The character comes to life on the big screen, videos and images from the set have already announced some of what is to come. One memorable moment involves Gosling letting out a high-pitched scream when Robbie’s Barbie hits a fumbler, a situation that many fans seemed to find quite amusing. Gosling’s comment is unlikely to change the minds of anyone who thinks he’s too old, but it’s clear that at least one vocal group of fans really like what has been shown of his portrayal so far.

Plot details remain mostly unknown Barbie, and it’s still unclear how well Ken and Barbie will stick to the Mattel toy backstory. For the most part, however, Gosling’s comment rings true, with Barbie usually being the primary focus when it comes to the toy line, especially since the toys were primarily marketed to young girls. Of course, it is also quite possible that the Barbie The film will address and explain some of the fan complaints that have surfaced about Gosling’s Ken, but fans, it’s likely fans won’t find out until the movie is released next summer.

Todd McFarlane Offers Spawn Movie Update, Teases Big Announcement Fri, 22 Jul 2022 01:13:00 +0000

Exclusive: Comic book creator Todd McFarlane teases “a big announcement” coming about his Spawn movie reboot later this year at New York Comic Con.

Comics creator Todd McFarlane teased a big announcement at Comic-Con 2022 for the next Spawn movie reboot. First created in 1992 for Image Comics, Spawn is a dark anti-hero who was once a government assassin before he was killed and returned to the realm of the living after making a Faustian deal to become a Hellspawn. In 1997, the first live-action film adaptation starring Michael Jai White in the lead role was released theatrically, but it failed to strike a chord with critics and garnered mostly negative reviews. The film also suffered because its original R-rated cut was toned down by the producers to achieve a PG-13 rating. Those disappointments aside, it still resulted in an animated series that will run on HBO for three seasons.

In early 2015, McFarlane announced that he was working on a new reboot of the property which he intended to not only write, but also make his directorial debut. Slated to be produced by horror film production company Blumhouse, and at one point Jamie Foxx was attached to play the lead role alongside Jeremy Renner (who helped convince Foxx to join as well). However, since its initial announcement, the project has faced numerous delays, though McFarlane has remained ardent in his constant attempts to get the film off the ground. Then, in August of last year, a new writer, Brian Tucker, was brought in to provide a new version of the script.

Screen Rant welcomed the comic book legend to their San Diego Comic-Con 2022 multimedia suite and asked McFarlane if he had any further news on his project Spawn film. Confirming that despite the delays due to the pandemic the project is still moving forward and is “add pieces.McFarlane reveals he has some big news planned for New York Comic Con in October:

We decided, “You know what, let’s do it in New York.” We’ll do it in New York [Comic Con].

Are we moving? Are we adding songs? All of the above, yes. The best I can say right now, on top of everything that’s happened, is that it kind of slowed down during the pandemic and then picked up again. Especially since, for a while, the only movies people were going to during the pandemic were superhero movies — minus James Bond. Now you get Maverick and some of the big blockbusters back to normal.

But at New York Comic Con, there’s going to be a big announcement.

With comic book movies dominating a significant portion of the box office, the time for Spawn making a return to theaters is more mature than ever, especially since it allows you to explore a different tone from the competition. Movie-going audiences are also much more accustomed to the prospect of an R-rated comedy adaptation, with movies like Joker, dead Pool and Logan proving that studios can branch out beyond a family-friendly PG rating and still do well at the box office. For a Spawn reboot to properly honor its comic book origins and succeed, it will inevitably have to reach for a similar note, unlike its predecessor.

While it’s disappointing that McFarlane doesn’t have more specific news to share at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, fans will be pleased to hear that the project is still firmly in the works. Hopefully, the big news he’s teasing for October will include a potential release date, allowing Spawn fans to start marking their calendars in anticipation. Fans will no doubt also be crossing their fingers that Foxx and Renner are still involved with the project after all this time.

Day One Prequel Movie Delayed To 2024 Wed, 20 Jul 2022 03:10:00 +0000

Horror fans are going to have to wait a little longer than expected for a return to the world of A silent place. Paramount is banking on the franchise, after both John Krasinski films became box office hits. A third installment of the main series is in the works, but not before Paramount releases a prequel called A Quiet Place: Day One. On Tuesday, Paramount announced that the film’s release had been pushed back a few months.

A Quiet Place: Day Oneof Pig director Michael Sarnoski, was originally slated to hit theaters on September 22, 2023. The film has now been pushed back to March 8, 2024. This new spring release date aligns with the franchise’s first two installments, both of which were released in the first few months of the year.

In addition to delaying the new Quiet placeThe film to 2024, Paramount has also shifted another Krasinski project on its schedule. Whethera film directed by Krasinski and starring Ryan Reynolds, was previously scheduled to hit theaters in November 2023. This film is now dated May 24, 2024.

Neither Krasinski nor Emily Blunt are set to appear in A Quiet Place: Day One, as the film will follow different characters as the alien invasion begins. Krasinski will stay on as producer, however. Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller will also produce, with Allyson Seeger serving as executive producer.

A Quiet Place: Day One was originally to be led by Mud director Jeff Nichols. In October, however, Nichols left the project. Sarnoski was brought in to replace him in January, following the success of Pig. When Krasinski first revealed he wouldn’t be directing the prequel, he said Nichols was his first choice to take over.

“Really, the only person I thought of when I was asked if I would pass this on was Jeff,” Krasinski told Empire last year. “I think he’s one of the best filmmakers, Mud is one of my favorite movies, and so real and intimate. This is exactly the kind of paints we paint with A silent place – very organic characters that you fall in love with. So he was my first choice for that, and when he said yes, I was over the moon. I pitched my story to him, he went off and developed the world on his own with that starting point, and I’m so thrilled. He’s shooting a script now, and I loved it. I absolutely loved it, and I can’t wait to see him shoot this thing.”

A Quiet Place: Day One is set to arrive in theaters in 2024. The first two films are available to stream on Paramount+.

Taika Waititi ‘couldn’t be more opposed’ to another notable superhero director Mon, 18 Jul 2022 02:29:33 +0000

Taika Waititi has repeatedly proven that he can combine the comedy and superheroes to deliver an exceptional cinematic experience. His upbeat personality and charm made him an eccentric filmmaker and storyteller, setting him apart from others in the industry. Waititi recently said he couldn’t be more opposed to another notable superhero filmmaker.

Taika Waititi’s directing career began in 2007 when he directed eagle versus shark. However, he caught the attention of the mainstream media with his mockumentary What we do in the shadows, which later became a hit FX series. Since then, Waititi has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, directing two Thor films, as well as Oscar-winning dishes like JoJo Rabbit. Obviously he’s been busy.
