Netflux users quickly spotted a former EastEnders actor in the new satirical sci-fi film Don’t Look Up, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence
EastEnders is rarely a step towards the bright lights of Hollywood, but in some cases staring in one of the UK’s biggest soap operas is great to have on your resume.
It certainly came in handy for a former resident of Albert Square, who went on to land a role in a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.
Don’t Look Up is the latest Netflix hit everyone’s talking about, and also stars Jonah Hill, Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet and Cate Blanchett.
However, there is another familiar face that viewers spotted while watching the satirical sci-fi film.

British actor Himesh Patel plays a small but important role in the blockbuster film, and it will certainly propel him to even bigger things.
He stars as Phillip, a reporter and Kate Dibiasky’s boyfriend, played by The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, and he certainly looks a far cry from his soap opera alter ego.
Himesh, 31, first rose to prominence on EastEnders playing Tamwar Masood in 2007, and remained on the BBC soap opera until 2016.
Tamwar was ultimately kicked out of EastEnders when he ran away with his girlfriend Nancy Carter, whom he later married in Australia before the couple moved to New Zealand.
Their marriage, however, ended in divorce, as Nancy returned to Walford on her own.
Himesh’s career has grown stronger since leaving EastEnders, having played roles in the Motherland television series, as well as in the films The Aeronauts and Tenet.
Various Netflix users took to Twitter after spotting Himesh on Don’t Look Up.
“Tamwar from Eastenders on don’t look up ?! I predict that in 10 years there will be no more American actors. We are literally undetectable to the average American viewer,” one person said.
Another posted: “Omg Tamwar from Eastenders did so well !! Watch him in ‘Dont Look Up’ (great movie so far) From the Minute Mart to be in a movie with Leonardo dicaprio !! Big Stuff! ! “
A third viewer wrote: “No way Eastenders’ Tamwar isn’t looking up.”
And a fourth person added: “LMAOOOO SOMEBODY OF EASTENDERS IS SURE DON’T LOOK FOR I THOUGHT THE DUTY LOOKS FAMILIAR.”
