Jamie Lee Curtis Starts ‘ Feud ‘ With Rival Marvel Multiverse Movie Doctor Strange | Film

Jamie Lee Curtis has slammed Marvel’s new film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, comparing it unfavorably to her new film Everything Everywhere All at Once while admitting she blew her chances of getting a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a series of social media posts, Halloween star Curtis claimed Everything Everywhere, All At Once “amazes every Marvel movie they release” and even suggested that Doctor Strange used an “imitated” poster. She added, “Is this one of those internet feuds? All I’ll say is we’d kill in a family feud contest… with the aliens of Doctor Strange.

Curtis’ Instagram posts appear to have been sparked by Everything Everywhere All at Once’s stellar box office performance, including reaching No. 1 for single-day grossing in the United States, grossing over $700,000. May 4almost six weeks after its release. In one of his posts, Curtis wrote: “How is it POSSIBLE, that in week six, SIX, that our little FILM THAT COULD AND CAN AND CRUSH the box office… This little miracle of a movie proves that the art will come out and that creativity and independent cinema is very much alive and kicking. Doctor Strange was released on May 5 and saved about $36 million the day of its opening.

Curtis adds: “COMPETITIVE? Fuck YES. I was not a head cheerleader in high school for nothing” and concludes a post with the hashtag: #guessiwillneverbecastinamarvelmovie.

Both films contain plot elements tied to a “multiverse” or parallel universes, but while the Marvel film is a sequel to the 2016 blockbuster Doctor Strange starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Everything Everywhere All at Once stars Michelle Yeoh in as a Chinese-American woman audited by the US tax service. Curtis also commented unfavorably on the relative size of Doctor Strange’s budget, in writing: “[Everything Everywhere All at Once] COSTS LESS than the ENTIRE crafting service budget on Doctor Strange and/or any other Marvel movie. The budget for Everything Everywhere All at Once is grossed around $25 millionwith Doctor Strange reported at $200 million.
