With online school, the love life for many is gone. But Zoom doesn’t have to be just for the classroom. This week’s date idea is for those who aren’t ready to meet in person yet, but still want a real dating experience. Want an in-person date? No worries, that can also qualify for a cozy night.
Vodka Pasta and Wine Sauce
This is my favorite pasta meal that’s easy to make, don’t worry, you’ll still look like you put a lot of effort into it. Personally, I love farfalle noodles with this sauce, but rigatoni is also very common with this dish.
Preparation time: 15-20 minutes Cooking time: 40 minutes
1 medium onion
4 garlic cloves
4 oz. Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons virgin olive oil
Double concentrate tomato paste in 4.5 oz tube
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
2 oz vodka (cheap)
1 cup heavy whipped cream
1 packet of farfalle noodles
To start up:
Fill a large saucepan three-quarters full of water and heat over high heat. Sprinkle a little salt in the water and wait for it to boil before adding the pasta.
In the meantime, chop the onions and garlic and place another pan on the stove over medium heat. Drizzle olive oil on the pot then put the chopped onions before the garlic. After that both are in stir constantly until the onions brown on the edges. Next, put in the whole 4.5 oz container of tomato paste and red paper flakes. Then continue to stir until the onions are completely coated and the batter is dark red.
Add the two ounces of vodka and stir while reducing the heat to low. After that, take ¼ of the boiling water from the pan before adding the whipped cream. This will add a nice thick texture. Stir in the cream until fully blended, then add the salt, pepper, paprika and Italian seasoning – I like to add more spice for a little heat but it’s not necessary .
Taste test your noodles to make sure they are your favorite sweetness and grab ½ cup pasta water to put in the sauce for extra flavor. After draining the rest of the pasta, toss it with the sauce, then add Parmesan cheese and basil leaves on top for the final look.
I like to accompany the dish with a sauvignon blanc wine but your barefoot favorite from 7/11 will suffice. After that, get cozy for dinner at the movies. To watch the film virtually with someone, there are several ways, such as skype, zoom or Houseparty, which allow you to watch the film while seeing yourself on the screen. While I think rom-coms make the best date movies, a preference for a different genre won’t kill the date vibe and choosing one of your own favorite movies can add a level of comfort and great conversation – if you can manage talking during the movie that is.
