Library News: Week of April 24, 2022 – The Globe

WORTHINGTON — The Nobles County Library, 407 12th St., Worthington, is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The Adrian Branch Library, 214 Maine Ave., Adrian, is open 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Spring Book Sale: Our Spring Book Sale takes place this week, during regular business hours on the main level of the library. Watch for the bag sale this weekend! Book sales are open to the public, not just library card holders.

Minnesota State Parks Library Pass: Now that the weather is starting to feel more like spring, remember that there are two Minnesota State Park Passes that allow free admission to our State Parks. These passes are available to Nobles County residents through the Adrian and Worthington Libraries, until the program expires on June 30.

Passes are checked and valid from Wednesday to the following Tuesday. A Plum Creek library card is required and an adult must pick up the pass. Book your pass in advance now. (Limit of one reservation every 30 days please)

Monthly Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book Club: The next meeting is at 6 p.m. on May 11 in the library program room. March’s topic was gravitational manipulation and April’s topic was your favorite science fiction or fantasy book. We will discuss how each of our books relates to these themes and what we liked/disliked about the books at the next meeting. Call 295-5340 or email [email protected] to register.

Coming: Both Christy in Adrian and Jackie in Worthington have been working very hard behind the scenes to prepare for their summer youth programs. Stay tuned to find out what they have in place for young people.

After-school programs: Register at the library or by calling 295-5340. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the library and must be picked up by 5:00 p.m.

  • Monday: Wii U for grades 5-9, after school until 4:45 p.m.
  • Tuesday: after-school program (K-5), after school until 4:45 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Story time for toddlers and preschoolers, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Thursday: after-school program (K-5), after school until 4:45 p.m.
  • May 2: Just Gurlz, for girls in grades 5-9, after school until 4:45 p.m.
  • May 3: after-school program (K-5), after school until 4:45 p.m.

Screenless Saturdays: The Adrian Branch Library is hosting Screen-Free Saturdays. Kindergarten to Grade 8 students are invited to come and play games from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the library. Bring your favorite board game or play the one available at the library. Screen-Free Saturdays continue through May 21.
