Marilyn Manson Thriller producer sues FilmRise to siphon off profits

LOS ANGELES, January 26, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Filmmaker Corey Asrafco-director and producer of Marilyn Manson Thriller in French Let me make you a martyr, is suing film distributor FilmRise for non-recognition of profits. The lawsuit, filed in the New York State Supreme Court, says the company, which also runs a streaming platform, siphoned off profits and thwarted Asraf’s attempts to audit finances related to the film’s global distribution. The lawsuit also alleges that FilmRise pulled the film from all markets after Asraf attempted to verify the revenue FilmRise received from its exploitation of the Manson thriller.

Plaintiff asserts that FilmRise continually refused to produce accounting statements and, following a formal request for an audit, attempted to limit the scope of any inspection, ultimately preventing an audit.

According to the lawsuit, “FilmRise [failed] account to the plaintiff for his exploitation of the film” and “underpaid Asraf” in a brazen attempt to line his own pockets.
