The music from a movie or TV show can often help make or break the final product, as using songs or a cinematic score can add just the right feeling to every scene.

For Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile, a film set in the 1930s and brimming with mystery and adventure, music is hugely important.

Death on the Nile release date and synopsis

Death on the Nile first sailed to cinema screens on February 11 after numerous delays and has now been added to streaming services in the US (March 29) and UK (March 30).

Following the events of 2017 Murder on the Orient ExpressHercule Poirot’s glamorous vacation aboard a Nile steamer quickly turns into a terrifying nightmare when a newly wed bride has her honeymoon tragically cut short.

Against the backdrop of ancient Egypt, Poirot must put all his wits and intellect to unearth the murderer who lurks among the ship’s wealthy passengers.

Who composed the score?

Besides a number of catchy songs, Death on the Nile also uses a cinematic score.

This score is the work of Scottish composer Patrick Doyle who regularly collaborates with Kenneth Branagh.

Working together, Doyle has composed music for people like Thor, Artemis Fowl2015 Cinderella, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and Murder on the Orient Express.

Apart from his work with Branagh, Patrick Doyle has also composed music for Disney-Pixar Brave, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Nanny McPhee and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

To coincide with the film’s arrival, Patrick Doyle’s epic and adventurous score has been released on music streaming sites such as Spotify and Apple Music.

Death on the Nile is available to stream now on HBO Max and Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK.
