New Amazon Prime Video Shows and Movies in May 2022

Amazon Prime Video (technically just “Prime Video”) and IMDbTV (now known as “Freevee”) are changing their names to be more user-friendly, so let me be the first to introduce our new name: “TV” . We remove the “Guide”. Now you can play TV while watching TV to find a new TV to watch. Here we help you figure out what to watch on Prime Video in May, so be on the lookout for the series premiere of night skya sci-fi series starring JK Simmons and Sissy Spacek, May 20. If you prefer your free TV (or just like the commercials), be sure to check out troppoa swampy mystery starring Thomas Jane, also on May 20.

For those late to the party, earlier this month Prime Video released Season 2 of The Savages, a YA drama about a group of girls who crash on an island…or so we’re led to believe! Plus, a new revival of the Canadian sketch show The children in the room also came out. Elsewhere, Harry Bosch switched from Prime Video to Freevee for the Bosch spin off Bosch: legacy.

Below are our picks for the best shows and movies to watch on Amazon Prime Video in May, as well as what’s coming to Freevee.

The Savages Season 2 (May 6, Prime Video)

The last time we saw The Savages, one of the pleasant surprises of 2020, the castaway teens got wind that something was up, and one of them found out that what had happened to them – a plane crash was faked and they got are found stranded on a desert island to fend for themselves – was also happening to a group of boys. We’ll see what the boys were up to this season, as well as the girls to see who lived and who didn’t. Season 1 was great at dramatizing what it’s like to be a teenager no matter where you are; will season 2 do the same for teenagers? [Trailer]

Bosch: legacy Season 1 (May 6, Freevee)

Bosch is not canceled; it simply moves on to the next case. The popular Amazon series Bosch, based on Michael Connelly’s detective novels, is reborn in this sequel which sees Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) surrender his badge in exchange for a private investigator’s license. Only this time it’s doing it on Amazon’s free, ad-supported streaming service Freevee. Bosch’s daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz) will be back and she is following in her father’s footsteps by joining the police academy. Let’s hope she doesn’t follow her next steps and kill someone. Mimi Rogers, who returns as Chandler, will also lead the series. [Trailer]

The children in the room Season 6, maybe? (May 13, Prime Video)

Ask your parents what’s so funny about a guy who squeezes his fingers together and says, “I’m crushing your head.” Or just watch this revival of Children in the rooma series of comedy sketches by the beloved Canadian troupe of the same name, and you’ll be thinking, “Hey, that’s the guy from HypermarketThe final season of the original series, which aired on HBO for three seasons and then on CBS, aired in 1995 and ended with everyone buried alive.
