Superhero novel put on hold after film delay

Dragon Ball Super: Super heroes was recently hit with a sudden and indefinite delay from its scheduled theatrical release this spring, which means the release of the accompanying novel has also been put on hold for the foreseeable future! Toei Animation was recently the victim of a major hack, and while the company has yet to reveal the extent of this hack to the public, what has been made known is that it has impacted their planned anime releases. Not only are their planned TV releases delayed, but the feature film return of Dragon Ball Super has also been delayed.

Originally slated to release in Japan on April 22 (before heading to North America this summer), Toei Animation has officially announced that Dragon Ball Super: Super heroes has been delayed indefinitely. There is no new release date set for the film yet, and as a result, Shueisha has also confirmed that the upcoming novelization of the film will also be delayed. Previously slated for release on April 25 (just days after the movie), the novel has been put on hold indefinitely for the foreseeable future.

Animation director Chikashi Kubota updated fans on the film after it was delayed and noted that the staff would use the extra time to further refine the film’s new animation. Unfortunately, Toei Animation has yet to set a new release date for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero as of this writing. This will likely impact the film’s international debut as well, so even though it’s currently slated for release in the summer, fans should be prepared. An update on that front has yet to be given either. As for what to expect when the movie finally comes out, Toei Animation officially describes Dragon Ball Super: Super heroes as such:

“In the past, Goku destroyed the evil Red Ribbon Army organization. But their will survived!! Now that they are revived, the RRs create the new androids Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 and begin their revenge. Piccolo soon notices this disturbing activity, and sneaks into the Red Ribbon base, but there he discovers an unimaginable “ultimate evil weapon”…!! Pan is kidnapped in order to lure Gohan to the base. also joins the fight, and an unprecedented super battle begins!!!! Where will this fight to the death lead?! And what fate awaits the Earth?!”

What do you think? How do you feel Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’s indefinite delay? What do you hope to see in the film when it finally hits theaters?
