A period drama, “Thuramukham” is based on KM Chidambaran’s play of the same name and the film is scripted by his son Gopan Chidambaram. The film is set against the backdrop of Cochin Port and takes place between 1927 and 1953.

“Thuramukham” features Nivin Pauly as Moidu, a youngster from Mattanchery. The film revolves around workers’ uprisings against the “chappa” system. The infamous “chappa” system prevailed in the port of Cochin in the 1940s and 50s, where a copper coin was tossed into the air and workers had to fight to catch the coin to work. Earlier in an interview with Kochi Times, Nivin Pauly said, “Thuramukham is going to be a totally different movie. Rajeev Ravi designed it in his trademark style and I think it will be a classic.
Starring Nivin Pauly in the lead role, “Thuramukham” also has Joju George, Indrajith, Sudev Nair, Manikandan, Arjun Asokan, Nimisha Sajayan, Poornima Indrajith, and Darshana Rajendran in lead roles.
The captivating trailer has added buzz among audiences, and the movie is set to hit sold-out theaters in June.
